Werner Moebius
born in Innsbruck / Austria, lives in Vienna and London
Werner Moebius works with sounds and files in the context of (sonic) art and audio culture in between conceptualisms, contemporary music, electroacoustic improvisation, electronica and pop. He uses the plasticity of sound to set up dialogues with other media and music methodologies. From abstract sound material he creates a unique mix of styles ranging from minimalistic soundscapes to weird instrumental poppy tunes. Generating sounds provides him the basis to develop complex compositions as well as transitive, synaesthetic and audiovisual concepts in collaborations with artists of different media.
His œuvre is containing works in the range of computer generated music, real time composition, mixed media installation, audio architecture, inter media art, sound environment, spatial concept, sound performance, acoustic intervention, sound map, field recording, concept pop, remix and soundtrack for radio, film, video, multi image shows and TV.

For his work Werner Moebius has received various awards and grants including the Mexico City grant of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture 2008, the Chicago grant of the Austrian Federal Chancellery 2005, Award of the Sussmann Foundation Vienna 2005 and the Music Award of the City of Vienna 2003.
